Larry Hogwood

My career as an artist has been since childhood. Drawing, illustrating, painting and working with clay have always been included in my lifetime interests as an artist.

My first art teacher was my dad. At the age of 5 my parents noticed my talents in drawing. My dad, who was also an artist, took me to an adult art class when I was 8 I was very encouraged to keep learning and exploring my abilities in art. I continued taking classes throughout my school years in Oakdale and then at Modesto Junior College. Beyond that, I would describe myself as a self-taught artist.

I feel it is important to paint the beauty around me and hopefully share it with others, especially those who are not as fortunate as myself to live in the area of Oakdale, Knights Ferry and Yosemite National Park.

I have lived in Oakdale, CA my entire life. I have consistently drawn from the beauty around me as subject matter in my life.

Gallery currently houses three of Larry’s paintings.
