Ernest Mancuso
The artist Ernest Byron Mancuso was born March the 11th in the year of 1971, in The Central Valley of California. He was raised in Stockton, CA and Waterloo, CA, to be exact. In the 2nd grade he realized he could draw or paint better than anyone in his class at Victory Elementary and won the grand prize in an art competition that year. His prize was a month of free art education at the University Of the Pacific Stockton. He learned and excelled in cross-hatch, stippling, watercolors, oils, oil pastels and charcoals. The basics of drawing. He was also tutored in art theory at that young age. Forward to high school where he flunked art class all four years of high school—Haha! Too much adolescent partying! Haha! After high school Ernest worked for San Joaquin County and painted sporadically. Forward to living, surfing and working in San Francisco Ca from 2012 to 2017 where he feverishly painted surfboards and canvas and did many collective art showings and he sold many great works! He moved back to the Central Valley in 2017 to raise his third daughter Norahlynn Faye Mancuso in Lockeford, CA where he began painting in earnest once again! Selling many works during the COVID pandemic. In this isolation he perfected many artistic techniques and in the aftermath of COVID he did many collective art shows and solo shows all of which were very successful! He is now in a national art competition that will be held in October 2024 at the Haggin Art Museum in Stockton, CA. He draws inspiration from American and Mexican muralistS and canvas painters from the 1940’s into the 1980’s New York Art Scene. Also the contemporary art scene of the Bay Area and his regional and local art scene. He is also drawing inspiration from the current state of division between the “City Folks” and “Country Folks” in our great country, being that he lived life in both said communities and feels great love and respect for both American lifestyles. He is really trying to find common ground and the way forward in peace and love for both these wonderful American communities! His paintings are coming from a blurry like “Sleep state” the point just before R.E.M sleep and dream state. An almost fantasy-like image yet stark and present, dark cold and mysterious, but also full of hope and love. Now the artist Ernest Byron Mancuso resides in downtown Stockton with his lovely girlfriend Sarah Salas and his young daughter “Bink” Norahlynn Faye Mancuso and their loyal dog “Buck”. He paints every day!
“It is a compulsive constant calling! And I must bow down to it or my head will explode!!! Haha!”-Ernest Byron Mancuso.
